SEQUEL

To help Senior Campers follow Jesus after camp the CE Network is excited to be partnering with Access the Story to pilot a new initiative – “SEQUEL“.

Senior CE Camp will invite campers to be involved in an easy-access 3 month process which will see them take the next step in following Jesus which will encourage them to go deeper into God’s story through a range of clips, coaching sessions and a retreat.

Volunteers will be screened and trained so they are well prepared to be a coach, “one who carries another through”. Find out more about the role of coaches, or sign up as a coach.

New Volunteers – training venue and time changed

We apologise for any inconvenience, especially with such late notice, but the Scripture Union training for all new CE leaders will still be this coming Saturday (Nov 1st), but the venue has been moved and the time changed:

The venue is now Glenunga Uniting Church, (Corner of Bevington and L’Estrange St, Glengunga).
The time has changed to 3:20pm – 4:20pm.

Due to the late change, we understand if you are no longer able to make this training, and can offer an alternative online training if you would prefer to do that at your own convenience.

Please RSVP (Junior or Senior)for this Saturday’s training or let us know if you would prefer to do the online training instead.

Again, sorry if this causes any inconvenience.

In Christ,

Kevin Hull, Junior Camp Director

Calling all Country Volunteers!

Know any country volunteers who might want to head to Junior or Senior camp? The CE Network and State Board will pay 50% of the fees for any country volunteer coming to 2014/15 Junior or Senior Camp and who lives more than 150km away from Mount Barker. Why we think it’s worth the investment:

  • camps gain valuable volunteers
  • volunteers are encouraged by working alongside others
  • country campers are keen to come when they know their leaders will be there

If this is you, sign up for Junior or Senior  camp, or  invite any country volunteers you know who would be keen to serve.

Your Project in October

As a first time camper last year, Ashleigh Barnes has received a $100 grant from the CE Network.

She’ll be using it to encourage her youth leaders by putting on a celebration dinner and giving each of them a small gift.

Read more about her plans, and why we love them, here.

Volunteers and campers of all ages who were on last year’s Junior or Senior camp are encouraged to apply, with applications closing on the first Monday of each month.

Your Project in September

Sam has been connected to CE Senior Camp since 2009, and last year led for the first time.

His grant money will go towards printing CDs and covers for a 4 song EP by MTC, the band he’s a member of. They hope the EP will be released towards the end of the year and encourage people to love Jesus and love others.

Read more about who else is involved and why they believe their music is important.

Volunteers and campers of all ages who were on last year’s camp are encouraged to apply, with applications closing on the first Monday of each month.

Your Project in August

Nicole Mugford is the first person to get $100 through the revised CE Network grants.

Nicole has been involved in CE for the last five years – 3 as a camper and 2 as a leader. After volunteering with the Country Focus team in the South East last year she felt called to move there and is now the youth pastor at Naracoorte Uniting Church.

The grant money will put on a community tea before a combined worship service to help young people get to know other Christians in their area and encourage leaders to network. Read more about what is planned here.

Volunteers and campers who were on last year’s camp are encouraged to apply, with applications closing on the first Monday of each month.

We’re giving $100 away a month

Inspired to put Jesus’ word into action?

The CE Network has tweaked ‘Your Project’ and we hope it helps you be doers in your faith.

Each month we’ll give $100 away to help you encourage and empower people to be renewed by God, to worship Him, to act in love toward others, to be in community and to go out on mission. Check out ideas here.

Campers and volunteers from 2014 camps can apply. Hear what Lorinda has to say about CE Network’s grants program.

If you’re interested in supporting the CE Network grants by contributing financially each month let us know. It will mean we are able to encourage, equip and empower more young South Australians to practically live out their faith. Exciting!

Did someone say LEGO!?

As we are now past the halfway mark of the year, Senior Camp 2014/2015 is now distantly visible on the horizon. Planning is well underway, and we are excited to see how God will work on camp this year.

Camp dates will remain the same this year, camp running from December 29th – Jan 2nd, and day zero for leaders being on December 28th. It would warm our hearts if you could slap those dates in the diary now!

The camp theme will soon be revealed. It involves Lego.

If you would like to receive promotional material via snail mail, but you have moved house since you last came on camp, please send us your updated postal address.

For leaders, we will be offering Child Safe training later in the year, stay tuned for dates. Note that Junior Camp has changed their dates to start a day later than normal and now runs January 5-9 so that leaders can volunteer on both camps.

If you love Senior Camp and have younger brothers and sisters you might want to get them to check out Junior Camp.

CE camp has inherited a great vision from those who have gone before us, and again we invite you take part in this fantastic work under God: “To give as many young people as possible a genuine encounter with Christ Jesus, encouraging and equipping them to serve Him wholeheartedly”.We would love to see you there again this year, and hope you can encourage others to come with you. As always, we are keen have new people join the CE community, and we have capacity this year to do that.

That’s it for now. Please do pray for camp in the upcoming months, that as preparations are made and campers are invited, that many would come, and that God would again do great works in many lives as we meet in the name of Jesus.

In Him,

Cam Maxwell, on behalf of the Senior Camp Committee
